Overview & Responsibilities

General Mills is looking for a passionate “intrapreneur” to join our 3-person co-founder team, which is an internal start up accelerator that discovers and builds new business in high growth spaces. The team will be responsible for creating, building, and launching new products/businesses to accelerate our enterprise growth initiatives. They will work in a way that is not “business as usual,” challenging themselves and each other, using entrepreneurial skills and an experimental mindset to get to the commercial truth about disruptive market opportunities. This will be a test and learn environment, with rapid experimentation to validate or invalidate assumptions.

 

We are seeking someone who is highly collaborative and passionate about role modeling an entrepreneurial mindset and approach.  Expertise is preferred in one of the the following areas: 

  • Technical– Understands how things work, supporting the team in the technical development of MVP’s /potential solutions.
  • Insights – Driven by the customer, their behaviors, motivations and needs. Able to design, develop and execute customized research.
  • Brand Marketing– Strong communicator with business development, sales, and/or marketing orientation, and good commercial contacts.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Create and execute a vision for the opportunity area and generate passion around the idea
  • Leverage startup methodologies to unearth deep consumer insights
  • Utilize best practices in ethnography, research, prototyping, and experimentation
  • Rapidly test and validate the customer problem, potential solution and related business models
  • Continuously synthesize learnings to determine and collaborate on the path forward
  • Use contemporary market sizing and business modeling techniques to effectively determine the market opportunity
  • Be a champion for the innovation process, clearly and effectively role model entrepreneurial behaviors
  • Report to the Executive Sponsor and Growth Board on progress, hurdles, track investment milestones, and funding requirements
  • Develop plans and business models to create a scalable business
  • Drive external connections for ideation, new ways of working, and solution finding
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree
  • At least five years of relevant experience
  • Experience in one of the following: innovation, new product development, consumer insights, research & development, sales, marketing or business strategy
  • Experience in launching an idea internally or externally that required synthesis of disparate points of view/ insights/data and creating a cohesive narrative, plan and outcome
  • Experience in working directly with consumers/customers and running experiments, in-market testing, and understanding what is required to launch the product
  • Understanding in how to manage the organization, influence across levels and remains resilient despite obstacles

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Ability to break down complex problems into hypotheses, develop clear plans for validation, and use data in order to refine concepts
  • Effective interpersonal, presentation and communication skills across all levels of the organization, including the executive levels
  • Ability to challenge the status quo and drive innovation, high comfort operating in ambiguous and unregimented environments
  • Highly motivated and action-oriented with strong problem solving and analytical skills
