Overview & Responsibilities

OVERVIEW

General Mills is seeking a Financial Analyst to join the Milwaukee Site finance team to be an integral part of the financial management of a $45MM salty snacks production facility. In this role, you will work in a dynamic and fast-changing team environment, collaborating cross-functionally within the plant and company. Responsibilities include cost accounting, inventory control, fixed asset accounting, assisting with capital investment initiatives, accounts payable, month-end closings and providing ad-hoc support to the plant, while advocating for & maintaining a strong fiduciary environment.

 

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • The job involves working together with a diverse cross functional team consisting of Operations, Engineering, Food Safety, Logistics, Human Resources and Minneapolis Supply Chain Finance.  
  • Assist with monthly inventory counts and resolve any discrepancies.
  • Partner with the Finance Site Lead in developing the annual budget and bi-annual forecasts.
  • Execute month-end closing activities such as cost center reviews, accruals, reconciliation, and various other journal entries.
  • Manage capital project updates, closings, and fixed asset reporting.
  • Quantify cost savings associated with Capital Projects or any cost-saving initiative across the site.
  • Ensure proper accounting controls and procedures are in place and maintained.
  • Support safety initiatives and conduct safety observations throughout the plant.
  • Support plant operational functions to achieve manufacturing excellence.
  • Analyze monthly overuse results and leverage financial acumen to identify potential cost savings trends.
  • Review overall monthly inventory transactions to ensure accurate inventory reporting.
Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business Administration, Finance, or Management
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work well in a team environment and with little supervision
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to effectively interact with individuals of various levels and functions

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS 

  • 2 years manufacturing finance experience
  • Working knowledge of SAP and Red Prairie
