This Director Strategic Revenue Management (SRM) – Analytics role is for someone who is passionate about Revenue Management, deeply knowledgeable about analytic methods and the systems / data that enable them, and drives scaled business impact with pace.  This role will drive creation and deployment of SRM Analytics systems/data/projects, help lead the Data and Analytics (DnA) agenda for SRM, and have major impact on the future of General Mills as we continue to make Revenue Management a key driver of enterprise-wide sales and profit.  We are seeking a leader who can think strategically, yet is hands on, action oriented, collaborative, and accountable.  This role will have deep focus on General Mills’ ~$10B North America business in >25 categories, along with work on other key businesses around the world.

 

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Lead SRM Analytics team to build and deploy SRM Analytics projects, Data foundation and models, and SRM Data and Analytics (DnA) use cases delivering >$100MM net sales impact
    • Manage direct team of ~10 (Product owners and SRM Analytics experts) and partner deeply with Agile GBS/IT project team counterparts and external vendors to deliver key System and Analytics projects
    • Balance business priorities, technical constraints, and resources to maximize delivery of SRM Data, Analytics and tools to multiple end user groups across SRM, Sales, OUs / Brands, and Finance
    • Lead Data + Advanced models, Commercial Planning + Promotion Optimization, SRM Strategy + Reporting work
    • Partner deeply across functions to drive results: SRM Team, Sales, Operating Units/Brand, Finance, Trade and more
    • Conduct analysis and provide insights, leveraging existing and new tools, surface insights, draw conclusions, make recommendations, and influence business partners to consensus and action
  • Provide Analytics thought leadership for SRM team and General Mills – develop, deploy, and embed new data/hierarchy management systems, advanced data science / econometric modeling techniques, and data visualization methods
    • Partner with team to maintain and advance SRM Connected Data Lake environment and data/model/system development roadmap – current / future data sources, use cases, and system priorities
    • Bring knowledge of data science and analytics and lead continuous learning for organization in brining new techniques and technologies to bear to solve business needs
  • Provide team/people leadership within Analytics group, across SRM team, and with stakeholders throughout organization
    • Lead, coach, and develop high performing team of Analytics professionals – grow individual / team capabilities, establish strong processes and engaged culture within and across sub-teams and functions
    • Help drive understanding of Data and Analytics (DnA) methods across organization via project and business impact
    • Drive collaboration between SRM work and other DnA / Analytics projects across General Mills

KEYS TO SUCCESS

  • Combination of business acumen, data/analytics experience, systems / IT knowledge, Revenue Management / Commercial Planning / Reporting expertise
  • Demonstrated ability to drive projects / systems from ideation to execution – building new analytic tools, proving their validity, embedding them in business processes, and driving demonstrated financial impact
  • Experience at building advanced Analytics solutions – strong understanding of data science and econometric methods. 
  • Ability to integrate multiple data sources (eg, syndicated data, customer data, consumer behavior data, financial / trade data), and leverage data science / econometric models to enable better business plans and decisions
  • Experience at building / scaling custom IT systems in modern tech stack (Hadoop, Python, R, .net, Tableau) – including Product Owner experience, Agile development, user story development, UI/UX development, data visualization, QA
  • Ability to influence key stakeholders across organization to embed new processes and tools 
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business or Quantitative field
  • At least 10 years of Analytics experience in Revenue Management / Sales / Commercial / Marketing, preferably in Consumer Package Goods or Retail
  • Leadership skills – experience managing direct and cross-functional teams to deliver projects in matrixed environment

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Advanced Degree (Master’s/PhD) in Data Science, Statistics, Econometrics or another related field a plus
  • Experience with analytic tools and databases from basic (Excel, Access) to advanced (R, Python, SAS, Oracle, SQL)
  • Experience with data manipulation and visualization packages (i.e. Tableau, Qlik, Alteryx, Spotfire)
