Innovation Coaches guide and inspire teams to use Consumer First Design (CFD) best practices to deliver 10x better holistic innovation solutions to deep consumer needs.  This coaching role helps build robust pipelines of holistic innovation opportunities.  The Innovation Coach will lead teams through their innovation journey from deeply understanding consumer problems through product/market fit experimentation.  The Innovation Coach has the responsibility to train teams on the experimentation rubric as they partner to design, develop, and execute consumer discovery and product / market fit experiments and provide end-to-end, hands-on support and guidance to teams during the innovation process.  Innovation Coaches are an authority in consumer discovery research and can effectively blend research with storytelling of captured data. The Innovation Coach will play a critical role in partnering with teams to validate revolutionary technologies, products and business models as they develop meaningful solutions for the future.

Accountabilities

  • Coach teams from Seed stages through Product / Market fit, validating/invalidating problems, solutions, business models and early go-to-market approaches
  • Plan and lead experimentation, including coaching on
    • Lean Start Up, Agile, and Design Thinking methodologies
    • Consumer ethnography and other consumer qualitative learning
    • Leap of Faith Assumptions (LOFA)s and experimentation rubric
    • Design principle creation and ACEs framework (Answers, Confidence, Evidence)
    • Identify and remove barriers to small in-market tests in partnership with Experimentation Capabilities and Sensory Design (ESD) teams
  • Experiment to identify and adopt new and better CFD methods
  • Create project momentum through effective planning and coaching
  • Energize diverse teams to excel beyond status quo by applying CFD tools and mindset
  • Create opportunities to build consumer empathy
  • Train and support on g-works processes and methods
Qualifications
  • BS in Food Science or Engineering or Product Guidance & Insights or BA in GCI or Marketing or Innovation Studies
  • 5+ years experience with CFD methods and/or new product development
  • Consumer first design champion; passion for innovation
  • Strong background in qualitative research including ethnographic research and validated learning / experimentation
  • Proven ability to work collaboratively across functions, platforms and externally
  • Capable of working and problem solving with high levels of ambiguity
  • Growth mindset
  • Strong communication skills
  • Team facilitation skills preferred
  • External orientation – agile in bringing outside ideas and resources

This position requires minimal travel (likely ~10% or less).
