Within General Mills, our manufacturing facilities are committed to achieving zero human and food safety incidents and it is every employee’s responsibility to fully support this vision. Electricians are hired as members of a manufacturing team, and they will work in a fast-paced, collaborative environment working on a wide range of equipment. Electricians will be responsible for troubleshooting, repairing, and improving equipment. Electricians will need to be able to estimate the amount and kinds of materials needed, work from all types of blueprints and drawings and performs any other duties as required.

The General Mills Cincinnati Plant is a 24 hour a day, 7 day a week Operation. We have 3 shifts: 3rd Shift (11:00 PM – 7:00 AM), 1st Shift (7:00 AM – 3:00 PM) & 2nd Shift (3:00 PM – 11:00 PM). Changes in volume and production requirements can result in changes in work schedule and additional overtime.  Electricians must be willing to work any shift including nights and weekends.

Starting pay rate is $27.26 per hour, which will increase to $29.54 per hour following a 6 month training period. After the first full year of employment, the pay rate will increase to $32.82 per hour.

Plant Overview: 

The Cincinnati, OH Plant manufactures BIG G cereals. In 2011, the plant took on an expansion to add new capacity and continues to innovate and expand today. We employ approximately 50 support staff members and 170 union hourly employees.

Main Responsibilities

In this role, you will:

  • Be responsible for safe operation of plant controls systems
  • Ensure LOTO documentation is updated/created
  • Ensure hazardous electrical energy is properly secured
  • Ensure all electrical work meets or exceeds GMI standards of construction
  • Troubleshoot and repair automated equipment, and control systems
  • Support plant maintenance department with PLC troubleshooting at a code level
  • Test various electrical equipment (AC/DC drives, motors and controls) using standard test equipment and observing system/unit operations
  • Design and layout circuits, install fixtures, wiring conduits, motors, and other electrical equipment/components
  • Work with Controls Engineer and Systems Engineer to generate process improvements
  • Provide guidance and support for preventative and predictive maintenance tools
  • Maintain electrical prints (redlines, print books, manuals)
  • Ensure all electrical components are clearly labeled
  • Maintain software maintenance programs
  • Be an active member of the continuous improvement process
  • Ability to communicate effectively across the plant organization, with operators, team leaders and plant staff
  • Goal oriented, self-directed individual needed to stay focused on driving metrics results from reactive to proactive maintenance systems
  • Complete other duties assigned by supervisor
Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • A minimum of 3 years relevant industrial maintenance background is required
  • Knowledge of the following:
  • Allen Bradley ControlLogix, MicroLogix, CompactLogix and SLC 500 PLC’s
  • Allen Bradley RSLogix 5000, 5 and 500 and RSLinx Software
  • RS Networx for ControlNet, DeviceNet, and EtherNet
  • Wonderware Intouch HMI software
  • Allen Bradley Panelview and Panelview Plus HMI
  • RS Studio, Panelbuilder 32, and RS View ME Software
  • Wonderware application Frameworks
  • Allen Bradley Variable Frequency Drives and how they are used in a controls system
  • Ability to install conduit, wiring, and electrical components
  • Ability to build and install an electrical cabinet and associate components.
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical prints and schematics
  • Must possess the ability to use various electrical test equipment for troubleshooting purposes.
  • Basic mechanical aptitude and willingness to perform mechanical work
  • Candidates will be required to successfully complete Maintenance test

Preferred Qualifications:

  • An Electrician apprenticeship, 2-year degree in relevant coursework (i.e. Electrical Engineering), or relevant Electrician certifications.
