Overview & Responsibilities

General Mills, one of the leading consumer food companies in the U.S., has an immediate opportunity in its Buffalo, NY Flour Mill for a General Maintenance Mechanic.

 

The General Mills Flour Mill operates 24 hours per day 7 days per week – Swing shift. Changes in volume and production requirements can result in changes in work schedule and additional overtime. 

 

The starting wage is $24.82 per hour. General Mills also offers shift differential payment for those working second and third shift.  Additionally, we offer a comprehensive benefits package including Health insurance with minimal premiums, paid dental, as well as 401k (with company match), pension and vacation.

Install, maintain and repair machinery by using preventative and reactive techniques to continuously increase system performance primarily within the Milling Department.  Support physical plant’s mechanical needs.  Perform any reasonable work request.  Ensure that work is in accordance with Company, State and Federal regulations.

Basic computer skills are a must.  Experience in a food manufacturing setting is preferred.  Applicants must be 18 years of age, able to lift up to 50 lbs., and be currently authorized to work in the United States.  A high school diploma/GED is required. Qualified candidates will be willing to work any shift, weekends, holidays and overtime as required.  

  • Must be able to perform physical tasks for extended periods of time including: standing, walking, climbing, bending, pushing, pulling and twisting over surfaces
  • Willing and able to work any shift schedule, including nights and weekends
  • Willing and able to adhere to all safety standards and wear all necessary personal protective equipment
  • Willing and able to adhere to all grooming requirements necessary for a food manufacturing environment
