Overview & Responsibilities

OVERVIEW

The Process Engineer will serve as a System Engineer in our processing department while also fulfilling certain responsibilities of a Process Lead for an area without a line team They will provide technical leadership as an equipment, system, and product specialist across our salty portfolio (Chex Mix, Bugles, Gardetto’s, and Muddy Buddies). This role is responsible for driving out losses by identifying, developing, and executing solutions for glidepath performance improvements and loss elimination.  As technical leader in the area, the engineer will also play a key role in building capability within the team and working with the business on initiatives such as capacity creation and commercialization.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Develop technical capabilities in themselves and surrounding team through hands on engagement.
  • Provide technical and business expertise on manufacturing systems/technologies/products and materials.
  • Demonstrate expertise in machine, materials, methods, environment, and personnel to provide robust operating systems.
  • Drive loss elimination by improving system and equipment reliability through demonstrated use of continuous improvement processes, problem solving, and statistical analysis. 
  • Leading centerline process as a foundational system
  • Own data integrity and leverage data/information systems to identify and drive decision making (performance metrics, financial information, data historian, maintenance management system)
  • Provide technical support in capital projects and new product and packaging material testing and start-ups.
  • Lead rate strategy work including capability studies and capacity initiatives
  • Develop strategic technical improvement plans for systems.
  • Maintain material balances and unit operation capability information to ensure optimal production rates, parameters, and formulas.
  • Communicate and engage effectively at all levels in the organization

Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • B.S. in Engineering ABET Certified
  • 2+ years of related work experience in process and/or packaging engineering, process/system development, product development, quality engineering, or manufacturing.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Consumer Products or Process Industry experience
  • Statistical analysis and analytical methods
  • Recognized technical abilities and practical experience with capabilities in the following areas:
  • Theory/functionality of manufacturing systems and unit operations
  • Data and manufacturing performance metrics analysis
  • Continuous improvement techniques (Lean, TPM, Kaizen)
  • Loss Prioritization/Quantification and Elimination
  • Coaching and Training
  • Process measurement and controls to optimize system and unit operation performance
  • Mechanical aptitude
  • Problem Solving and Root Cause Analysis
