Overview & Responsibilities

General Mills is seeking a Senior Director to oversee the Internal Communications and Employee Experience.

This individual that will be responsible for developing and coordinating communications strategies to further our employee engagement efforts and drive a deeper understanding of our company’s corporate and segment transformation and business strategies. In addition, this individual will serve as a counselor to General Mills Senior Leadership Team and will regularly engaged with our CEO, CHRO and other senior team members to ensure a strong alignment between our communications efforts, our corporate culture and our business journey. The successful candidate will report to our CCO and dotted-line report into our CHRO, and sit on the leadership teams of both Corporate Communications and Human Resources.

The selected leader will oversee a team of a dozen experienced communications professionals and working with them will be responsible for corporate internal communications, business segment communications, quarterly earnings communications, employee town halls and other event production engagement efforts, HR communications, diversity and inclusion support and internal communications tools and reporting.

The successful candidate will be a proven leader with a breadth of communications experience who is able to collaborate and co-create with a broad range of stakeholders. She or he will have a passion for driving and always furthering our employee engagement efforts.

In this role you will be responsible for the following:

  • Employee Engagement and Internal Communications, with a focus on our corporate strategy, business plans and performance and functional segments efforts
  • HR Communications, with an emphasis on serving as a partner to our CHRO
  • Event production, with an emphasis on furthering our journey to strengthen employee engagement
  • Quarterly financial earnings
  • Communications tools and reporting
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in related field
  • Minimum of 10 years of relevant communications experience
  • Strong communication skills and experience working with senior leadership/C-suite
  • Proven expertise and/or management experience across communications with an emphasis on engagement and internal communications

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Corporate & PR agency experience desired
  • Experience in the following Communication areas:
    • Internal Communications
    • Employee Engagement
    • Human Resources
  • Experience working in the following industries: CPG, Consumer, Agency, Employee Engagement or Human Resources
