We are seeking a techno-savvy and intellectually curious chemical engineer with strong computer science skills who is eager to apply modern data-driven methodologies to solve complex and challenging food processing problems. You will work with engineers and scientists to design, develop, and optimize our current and next-generation food processes to make food the world loves!

 

This role is within our ITQ Innovation, Technology & Quality R&D Organization. You will be part of our Nutrition Technology Solutions (NTS) team, which has the mission to deliver impactful technical innovations by solving challenging technical problems using state-of-the-art tools. We lead the industry by building solutions that matter to our consumers, enabling process innovations, manufacturing efficiencies, and production of great-tasting healthy foods.

 

What You’ll Be Doing 

 

We are looking for a recent graduate with a strong academic background who can analyze real-world situations using data-centric and phenomenon-based modeling tools. Applying multiple lenses such as process dynamics, material flow behavior, reaction kinetics, heat transfer, and process control, you will work independently or with a team to:

  1. Apply fundamental chemical engineering principles to dissect and understand how great-tasting food is made on our equipment.
  2. Apply machine learning and process modeling tools to analyze and develop a hypothesis to solve complex engineering problems that will improve process efficiency and product quality.
  3. Design and execute experiments. Scale-down and scale-up to test and learn.
  4. Apply or build modern data-driven methodologies and tools such as CFD/Multiphysics modeling or AI/Machine Learning.  Integrate cross-disciplinary computer-based tools as needed for problems at hand (e.g. Visual Basic/Python programming, PLC programming, Vision Systems, CAD/SolidWorks, etc.).
  5. Develop and test the hypothesis to advance technical possibilities and deliver big business impact.

  • Support the development and advancement of data and modeling-based problem-solving methodologies within GMI.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Chemical Engineering or related competitive engineering field
  • Experience or interest in programming, data analysis, and modeling
  • A learning mindset with curiosity & inventiveness
  • Demonstrated ability to work in teams, collaborate with others to deliver results
  • Ability to focus on details, apply a methodical approach to tackle technical challenges
  • Willingness to travel (10%)

Preferred Qualifications

  • Highly desire deep data and analytics skills (double major in computer science, modeling, and programming experience)
  • Industrial internship experience
  • Demonstrated ability to deliver outstanding results
  • Demonstrated skills in managing numerous projects concurrently and adaptability to fast-growing/constantly changing business needs
  • Demonstrated effective communication, leadership, and influencing skills
  • Ability to design and execute experiments to understand and solve technical problems, strong technical background
  • Innovative thinker, willing to challenge established methods and beliefs
