Overview & Responsibilities
General Mills is seeking a Records & Compliance Specialist who will assist in providing awareness and guidance on Information Governance strategies that align with Records and Information Management (RIM) principles needed to support the lifecycle management of records and information assets for General Mils.
  • Provide global direction to legal staff, business clients and strategic customers with respect to efficient creation, retention, storage, retrieval and disposition of the company’s information to ensure compliance with corporate policies and legal requirements
    • Incorporate global retention policies into all operations leveraging off-site physical records storage including litigation holds; manage facility usage, destruction process and inventories
    • Manage contract and relationship with the storage vendor
    • Assist with the development of RIM policies, processes and tools
    • Assist with the retrieval of records, as appropriate, to meet legal requests for documentation, including responses to subpoenas and similar requests for records or information; manage litigation hold process for corporate and inactive records, identify records to hold, and track hold process.
    • Develop tools and processes to support annual assessments of businesses to ensure compliance with the Information Governance policy and the Information and Retention Compliance standard.
    • Provide guidance to businesses to help control costs and reduce risk associated with information storage and retrieval
  • Provide consultation to support continuous improvement and FUSE initiatives that including accessing and managing information needed to support business objectives
    • Lead or participate in activities related to Company acquisitions, divestiture, building closures, building moves etc.
    • Provide consultation on activities such as media analysis, active/inactive records management, retention schedules, records storage etc.
    • Support the implementation of Information Governance strategies by embedding records management principles into technology solutions
  • Deliver relevant training and communication to drive understanding, awareness and compliance with RIM and Information Governance policies and standards
    • Maintain the RIM website, drive awareness through the RIM Yammer community to incorporate RIM processes and tools
    • Conduct annual records coordinator training
    • Create self-service training modules to support on proper retention and classification of information
    • Partner with Global Business Solutions to facilitate clean up and FUSE activities
    • Incorporate RIM awareness into employee new hire onboarding process
    • Interface with Organization Effectiveness to collaborate and identify new opportunities to market and create awareness of RIM principles and best practices related to information governance
  • Work closely with the RIM manager and others in the organization to evaluate, research and recommend technologies needed to support automated grooming and retention policies.
    • Help develop and support the design, implementation, management and administration of information governance strategies
    • Help to develop and support data migration strategies
    • Develop training modules related to new technologies and information governance strategies
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred
  • Minimum 3 years of relevant work experience
