The Associate Finance Manager (SRM) position at General Mills Canada Corporation provides key leadership and support in developing processes and tools to advance our enterprise capabilities in SRM/Trade. A successful candidate will be a thought leader who brings fresh insight and perspective into a constantly evolving and dynamic space. This role requires a strong bias for action and partners with multiple key stakeholders to enable strong execution across the organization. Works closely with the SRM and SRM Finance teams to deliver on key strategic objectives and develop best practices.

 

This role is responsible for establishing tracking/reporting of SRM and Trade monthly processes to effectively steward the delivery of the annual Trade/SRM plan. Breaks down barriers and develops methodologies and tools to track and monitor execution of SRM/Trade initiatives. Drives insights into trade spend and SRM execution to identify opportunities for improved ROI and spend management. Builds relationships with the SRM//North American Retail SRM Finance team to embed best practices and develop tools to enhance SRM/trade spend management capabilities. Leads streamlining & standardization of work processes across the broader SRM organization to align objectives. Finance lead for annual customer planning process, working with multiple key stakeholders and recommending improvements in efficiency and effectiveness of overall process. Enterprise Finance lead for key SRM pillars & initiatives.

This role reports to the BU Finance Director and may manage direct reports.

 

Key Accountabilities

SRM/TRADE PERFORMANCE MEASUREMENT

  • Lead role in delivering adequate and timely Trade/SRM tracking to monitor strategy execution. Identifying key areas of risk or opportunity.
  • Key point of contact to co-ordinate tracking efforts with Sales Finance team and monthly trade review with Sales Finance Director – leveraging tools/capabilities to drive efficiency
  • Improve category level trade spend tracking/reporting of trade drivers to Business Unit teams
  • Connects external pricing with internal reporting to drive better insights into performance
  • Ensures a solid controls framework for trade spend approval

SRM/TRADE STRATEGY DEVELOPMENT & PLANNING

  • Provides financial leadership in partnership with SRM team to evaluate enterprise wide initiatives (i.e. Trade ROI, Slip, Promo Optimization)
  • Owns developing Mix management capabilities – supports Business Unit team in identifying Mix improvement strategies
  • Develops Center of Excellence capabilities in the financial assessment, planning and execution of SRM initiatives
  • Leads annual trade plan/budget build and guides execution of Customer target process, working closely with SRM & Sales to optimize process and tools. Co-ordinates all financial inputs/outputs for customer targets (Volume/Reported Net Sales/Trade/Profit)

PEOPLE/PROCESS EXCELLENCE & CAPABILITIES

  • Key lead in building financial modelling capabilities to support evaluation of Enterprise SRM pipeline initiatives
  • Develops subject matter expertise in SRM concepts to provides training and tools to SRM/Business Unit Finance team
  • Creates processes to explain and consolidate trade rate drivers to inform Annual Estimate and Mgmt Business Review (MBR); Leads Monthly Trade Review (PEAK) & Estimate load
  • Stewards the tracking of trade recos – develops standard process for approval and financial benchmarks
  • Works with Business Unit Finance lead to standardize processes and improve effectiveness of Trade/SRM monitoring practices – leveraging Global Business Solutions (GBS)
  • Acts as a visible leader to guide the focus and efforts of the SRM Finance organization and build all players

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance or Business Administration 
  • At least 5 years relevant experience; CPG experience preferred
  • Ability to navigate and synthesize complex data and processes to develop tools & process
  • Develop and apply strategic business solutions to problems
  • Demonstrated leadership skills and ability to execute work through others
  • Well organized and able to manage complex organizational processes and show agility in operating within a dynamic environment
  • Ability to assess when details matter and operate at different levels when required
  • Proven ability to build trusting relationships at all levels and across all functions; ability to effectively communicate and influence across the organization
  • Creative, flexible and strategic change focused
  • Strategic, innovative leadership – able to leverage ideas from key stakeholders to create and implement winning solutions
  • Strong technical skills with advanced knowledge of reporting systems (Tableau) will be an asset
