Within General Mills, our manufacturing facilities are committed to achieving zero human and food safety incidents and it is every employee’s responsibility to fully support this vision. Production Operators are hired as members of a manufacturing team.  They are responsible for the support of various processing and packaging equipment operations throughout the facility.

The General Mills-Milwaukee plant operates 24 hours per day, 7 days per week. We are shutdown every other weekend.

 

We do our best to accommodate your shift needs and schedule you based on our job openings and your preference in shift. Our shift hours are the following:

  • 1st shift hours: 7am-3pm
  • 2nd shift hours: 3pm-11pm
  • 3rd shift hours: 11pm-7am

 

The starting wage for a Production Operator position is between $19.84/hr and $23.72/hr depending on experience. Employees are given the opportunity to increase pay through as they learn and develop their training capabilities, performance, and responsibilities.

 

Additionally, we offer a comprehensive benefits package including medical, dental, and vision insurance, retirement benefits including a 401k with company match, short term disability, etc. that begins on your first day of employment. Employees begin with 15 days of vacation, which are made available after completing the first 90-day-probationary period.  The plant also has an annual incentive program that pays out twice per year, depending on company and individual performance.

Main Responsibilities

In this role, you will:

  • On a daily basis, ensure Food and Human Safety are your number one priority and partner with team to identify/eliminate risks
  • Follow all company safety policies and procedures to ensure a safe working environment
  • Follow standard operating procedures to operate various pieces of high speed and/or high tech processing and packaging equipment
  • Troubleshoot problems with machinery and partner with maintenance staff to resolve issues
  • Support production lines by supplying with materials as needed
  • Assists operators during bottlenecks or when production lines are shut down
  • Calibrate processing and packaging systems daily to meet required specification
  • Participate in start-up, change over and shut down of operating equipment
  • Perform cleans on equipment, as necessary per our Food Safety requirements
  • Perform change overs and End of Run cleans including disassembly and reassembly of necessary equipment
  • Perform centerline checks on a shiftly basis to ensure equipment is running per recommendations
  • Be responsible for executing all required HACCP processes and documentation

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Must be 18 years of age or older
  • Must have the ongoing right to work in the U.S. without sponsorship
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Must be able to speak English
  • Proficiency in basic computer skills
  • Must be able to lift 50 lbs
  • Must be able to perform physical tasks for extended periods of time including: standing, walking, climbing, bending, pushing, pulling and twisting over surfaces
  • Willing and able to work any shift schedule, including nights and weekends
  • Willing and able to adhere to all safety standards and wear all necessary personal protective equipment

 Preferred Qualifications:

  • 1+ years of experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Demonstrated leadership ability
