Overview & Responsibilities

Innovation Coaches guide and inspire teams to use Consumer First Design (CFD) best practices to deliver meaningfully better solutions for consumer jobs to be done.  This coaching role helps build robust pipelines of sustainable innovation opportunities.  The Innovation Coach will lead teams through their innovation journey from deeply understanding consumer problems to early in market experimentation.  The role spans Intensives, Design Sprints and Expos.  In addition, the Innovation Coach has the responsibility to train teams on the CFD mindset, tools and practices to enable an agile organization. These responsibilities include providing formal training, coaching specific ad hoc teams, training other coaches, staying on top of external best practices and closely collaborating with our cross-functional partners and external network.

Accountabilities

  • Coach teams throughout Intensives, Design Sprints and Expos: help them achieve their goals and deliverables
  • Counsel teams on CFD approach to projects across Platforms/OUs
  • Plan and lead CFD sessions, including coaching on
    • Lean Start Up, Agile, and Design Thinking methodologies
    • Consumer qualitative learning
    • Leap of Faith Assumptions (LOFA)s and the experimentation rubric
    • Design principle creation
    • Identify and remove barriers to small in-market tests in partnership with Experimentation Capabilities and Sensory Design (ESD) teams
  • Experiment to identify and adopt new and better CFD methods
  • Create project momentum through effective planning and coaching
  • Energize diverse teams to excel beyond status quo by applying CFD tools and mindset
  • Create opportunities to build consumer empathy
  • Train and support on CFD processes and methods
  • Enable global synergies by communicating, sharing and leveraging CFD best practices
Qualifications
  • BS in Food Science or Engineering or Product Guidance & Insights or BA in GCI or Marketing or Innovation Studies
  • 3+ years experience with CFD methods and/or new product development
  • Consumer first design champion; passion for innovation
  • Qualitative research background as well as validated learning / experimentation background
  • Proven ability to work collaboratively across functions, platforms and externally
  • Capable of working and problem solving with high levels of ambiguity
  • Growth mindset
  • Strong communication skills
  • Team facilitation skills preferred
  • External orientation – agile in bringing outside ideas and resources

This position requires minimal travel (likely ~10% or less).
